Soy

Soy - the magic cat - was inspired by a real cat with the same name. In Magic Tails Chapter 1 - Raven Birth, Soy Blossom, Soy is the second land creature born from Earth. One day, a beautiful flower blossoms in front of Raven, who watches as Soy emerges from its center. Soy and Raven become best friends.
Here is Soy, the real cat who inspired these stories:

She was born in Flagstaff, a town in the mountains of Arizona. She lived with my friend, Ravven until Ravven left on a long trip.
Soy stayed with me from April 1996 to August 1998. In 1996, the weather had been very dry. Fires burned in the forest. No Monsoon rains had yet come…until that magic day…the 4th of July. All afternoon the rain poured down, and tiny flowers could be seen everywhere. At sunset a double rainbow arched over Flagstaff. Soy went into labor. She gave birth to 4 kittens - 3 pure white and last -
a Ginger Tom who I named Heimdall.
The Tails soon began to take shape.
Sometimes it seemed that Soy was telling me the story as I was drawing it. Soy would watch me, sometimes looking over my shoulder, sometimes sitting in my lap. When she liked a picture, she would lie on the drawing, or put a paw on it, giving it her 'stamp of approval'. The words for the stories came later.
A few weeks after I finished writing, it was time for Soy to leave. She disappeared and never came back - except in my dreams. She visits often - playing, purring and smiling as she always did. I was heart-sore when Soy left, but I knew somehow that I had been given a gift. Magic Tails is that gift. Soy, Heimdall, Raven and all the beings in 'Magic Tails' invite you to join them…
