Coyote

Coyote arrives in Magic Tails Chapter 4 - The Lonely Wish.
Coyote is a strange and powerful being that first appears to Soy in a dream. In the dream, Coyote senses Soy's loneliness and gives her some important advice. After hearing this advice, Soy draws a magical doorway. When she wakes, she finds the doorway exists not only in her dream but on Earth too! Soy makes a wish that opens the magical doorway and animals of all sizes, shapes and colors - including Coyote - flow forth.

When Coyote first appears to Soy in the Dreamworld, he is regal and sage-like, standing on his hind legs, wearing a purple cloak. This is not the Coyote that Soy knows in his Earthly form! Much more is revealed about Coyote in later Tails . . .
In Native American mythology, Coyote is a trickster and can transform himself to take many forms. Often he is mean, un-trustworthy and self-centered. Almost everything he does is for his own benefit or entertainment. Even when it appears that he is being kind and helpful, there is always something in it for him. Yet, his pranks, tricks and mischievous ways almost always backfire on him!
Coyote is in fact a great teacher! It can be said that he is one of the best bad examples we have … we learn what not to do in life! While Coyote teaches us to be adaptive and resilient, we also learn from him that the path of unkindness and selfishness is a troublesome one.
