Heimdall, Rainbow Dragon Warrior
The name 'Heimdall' comes from the Norse God Heimdall.
In Blanco's Magic Tails Heimdall is one of the 8 guardian dragons
who were born at the dawn of time - when the universe was first
created. He represented the orange spectrum of the rainbow amongst
these powerful creatures. He brings humans to Earth in Tail Sixteen.
In ancient myth, Heimdall guarded the foot of the rainbow bridge to
Valhalla, the home of the Deities. He brought Runes to us. He is
responsible for starting Ragnarok (the Norse equal of Armageddon) by
blowing into his magical horn. This is the 'final battle' of the
Gods and Goddesses.
The character Heimdall was inspired by my cat Heimdall. He was the last to
be born of a litter of 4 kittens during an incredible rainbow on July 4, 1996.
3 were pure white like their mother Soy, though none had eyes like her.
I watched Heimdall's birth, and the first time he opened his eyes, he saw me.
Here is a picture of Heimdall the cat:
Months before Heimdall was born, I had a powerful dream. I dreamt I
walked onto a narrow platform that stood over a very deep chasm.
I walked onto the bridge and when I got to the center, I heard a sound
above me. I looked and saw a huge, orange dragon-cat approaching -
flapping towards me with big wings. I wasn't scared at all. He landed
next to me and I climbed onto his back. As soon as I was settled, the bridge
disappeared and we started to fall. The dragon-cat's big wings flew out
and we glided down the chasm easily. We got to the bottom and I saw
that behind us was the shore of an ocean - ahead of us was the entrance
to a huge maze. An old wizard (like Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings
by JRR Tolkien) stood at the entrance to the maze. I walked up to him and
he smiled. He asked me if I was ready. I told him I was, and I went into
the maze with the dragon-cat.
Just a couple weeks before Heimdall was born, I dreamt that the litter
Soy was going to have was 3 gray kitties, and one orange cat. I was
almost right - the 3 gray kitties turned out to be white, but there was one
orange cat who I immediately knew was my buddy.
About a year after Heimdall was born, I had a dream that he was
sitting in front of me. He transformed into the gigantic dragon-cat
from my previous dream and I climbed onto his back again. He
flew me to the foot of a rainbow and then across it to what I guess
must have been the entrance to Valhalla. Before we got any further
I heard a voice behind us and turned to see a man in a chariot drawn
by 2 goats heading our way. It was the Norse God Thor. He landed
next to us and greeted me warmly and told me to come with him.
I climbed into Thor's chariot and we flew out over the ocean. I saw
the scene of a huge viking fleet of boats. A big storm came and many
were lost. I'm still not sure what that means - possibly a past life...?
If the Norse God Heimdall comes to you in a dream or meditation, you may
have a spiritual question of some sort, or may be going through a
difficult time. Try playing with Runes or some other form of divination
such as Tarot cards, or the I-Ching. These tools can be very helpful
when you need spiritual guidance of some sort. Don't
rely on them for every question you have though! Divination
only works when you don't abuse it by using it too often. Use
these things only when you are truly confused and don't know
the answer to a question or problem.
If a dragon comes to you in a dream or meditation, it could mean
that you are being protected by a powerful dragon spirit! The dragon
brings a message to you from your soul. Your ideas, dreams, and
ambitions may become very intense soon. Try focusing on those
things more.
If a cat comes to you in a dream, meditation or every day life, it could
mean that your spirit is being protected by the spirit of a
cat (especially if you have a cat!). It can also mean that if you're
faced with a confrontation of some sort, you'll have the ability
to see whether you should stick around for the fight or to retreat.
You could be entering a period of high self-esteem (if you're not in
one already). You could also have the ability to see spirits while awake.
Cats do this a lot - have you ever been hangin' with a cat and seen him or
her jerk their head up quickly and stare at a spot in the corner of the room?
You get up and look, and nothing's there... but sometimes there is.
