Reiki (Text by Elizabeth Feliz):
Click here to browse through our great selection of pendulums. In a nut shell, Reiki is an ancient Japanese form of healing and relaxation applied by a “laying on of hands.” Reiki is very gentle and subtle, yet tremendously powerful. The recipient lies or sits, fully clothed, while the practitioner places their hands in established places over and upon the head, chest, stomach, hips and back. This placement of hands by the practitioner opens up and balances the recipient’s energetic field (their aura) and their chakras and channels energy to their organs and glands where energy may have been previously blocked. The result is a raise in the level of the recipients vibration which acts to restore and balance the natural life force in the body. Throughout the hundreds of Reiki sessions that I have both given and received, I have found that it is not uncommon for one to feel profoundly relaxed or profoundly energized after receiving Reiki. Reiki comes from two Japanese words: Rei and Ki. Rei, loosely translated, is “universal” and Ki means “life force” (think of the word “Chi” if that is more familiar to you, or perhaps the Indian word “Prana”). When a practitioner administers Reiki, they are literally tapping into this abundant universal life force that exists all around us, and simply channeling it to the recipient. The Reiki practitioner is merely a vessel or conduit to bring this wonderful energy in for the person receiving it, and therefore giving a Reiki treatment never depletes one’s own energy. I know from personal experience, being a Reiki Master, that when I give a Reiki treatment to someone, it is beneficial not only to the client, but to myself as well, as I feel greatly energized when I am done. I truly believe that when someone gives Reiki to someone else, they are receiving it as well! Out of all the healing modalities that I practice, Reiki is my favorite, and I am very anxious to learn new forms of energy work because of this wonderful little benefit. Reiki is so elegant and simple, that anyone can learn it, from children to grandparents. It is not a religion; there are no doctrines to accept or believe. It is simply a form of healing which can be used by itself or alongside any other form of treatment. To read more about Reiki or to find out how to take a Reiki class in your area, click here. |
