Healing room products : This whole “healing room” of products go hand in hand with our love of healing.
In the book The Fragrant Heavens, there are amazing photo stills taken from video of a person’s hand with a drop of lavender essential oil, and then a still of the hand without the drop of oil. The picture of just the hand without the oil looks like a normal hand, but the picture with the oil shows a marked dramatic change. It looks like waves of color (vibration) are rolling off the hand! One can actually “see” how much just one drop of oil can impact one’s energy and auric field. Essential oils and their different properties and uses are extremely powerful, and yet something not honored in the U.S. at all. Other countries, however, are very keenly aware of the awesome power of essential oils power to heal and help. For example, in England, if you have to spend the night in a hospital and are nervous and tense about it, the nurses there will offer you a sleeping pill OR a lavender massage! This is because lavender has the amazing ability to knock you out cold and have you sleeping wonderfully, without all the side effects of sleeping pills (which disrupt your r.e.m. cycle and therefore your ability to dream and feel refreshed in the morning). If you buy lavender oil in a pure enough form you can even drink it to help you sleep - be warned however, it does not taste very good. You must pinch your nose and simply down it! I know this from personal experience, but the bottle MUST say that you can ingest the oil, otherwise, please don’t! Just like in my section on chakras, and how every single one vibrates at its own special frequency and vibration, so too do essential oils. Each and every one has its own amazing healing properties and uses, so much so that it is astounding. i first became interested in learning about aromatherapy because a massage client of mine came into my office and told me of an experience she had had during an aromatherapy facial. She said she came in to get her facial in a horrible mood (and had, in fact, almost cancelled), and when she left, she felt like her whole entire soul had been recharged and that she had the sense of floating out of the office when she left. I thought, “wow, this is really powerful!” Being a massage therapist, I was excited to learn aromatherapy to add to my healing repertoire. Once I took a beginning class in aromatherapy, however, I was shocked to realize how much i did not know about this amazing subject. for instance, aromatherapy is not really about the scent of the oil. I had pictured aromatherapy massages being all about having pretty smelling things wafted under your nose, and it isn’t that at all (but this does not mean you don’t enjoy some of the aromas wafting around the room during the massage). Aromatherapy is more about applying a few drops of essential oil into a carrier oil, rubbing the carrier oil into your skin, and then applying moist heat to the skin to literally get the properties of that oil right into your blood stream! A la stone massage goes hand in hand very nicely with an aromatherapy massage, or if you do not have access to stones and simply wish to apply the oils into your skin yourself, you may also use warm, moist towels. In a pinch, a heating pad will work, too, although that does not have the moist heat. You must, however, read the bottle directions and not apply too many essential oil drops into the carrier oil. More is not always better, and in some cases too much essential oil will make you sick, nauseous or have the the opposite effect of what you were intending it for. Others oils are extremely safe and it would be very hard to “over dose” on them. Oils should always be treated with the same caution as any western medicine, for “medicine” is exactly what essential oils are. Aromas and scents are also very powerful triggers for memories. Oftentimes, without us even realizing it, we store and catalogue certain events in our brain based on what smells were present at the time. If you wish to treat yourself to an aromatherapy massage, you may have one of the oils being used on you trigger a powerful release of memories long forgotten! Have you ever had this experience? You walk into a friend’s house whose mother is baking oatmeal cookies, for instance, and you are transported back to when your grandmother used to bake them? I think we all have, although not all aromas which trigger memories are as pleasant as the smell of fresh baked cookies.
The pendulums: Almost anyone experienced in energy work and chakra balancing knows how pendulums can go hand in hand with this work, if they so choose. Whenever I do a reiki session, I always first use a pendulum (and by that I mean, I hold it very still over each chakra to see if it starts spinning clockwise, counterclock wise or if it stays completely still. The idea here is that if you, the practitioner, hold the pendulum still enough without any vibrations from you, the client’s energy will move the pendulum itself) to check my clients chakras Depending on which way the pendulum moved, I can tell if their chakra is spinning correctly, spinning backwards, or is completely blocked (not spinning at all). The pendulum is a tremendous time saving tool for me with energy work, for it helps me get an instant reading on the body and lets me know where I need to focus. If a person’s chakras are blocked or spinning in the wrong direction, I do reiki over these areas and then check them again with the pendulum to let me know if the block has completely cleared. It’s a great way to give me instant feedback on how the body is doing!
Jewelry: Anyone who knows me knows that I love amber. Amber is, essentially, tree resin and, I have this thing with trees. When I was a child, I used to tell people that I once was a tree. Many Native American and Druid cultures around the world believe that if you sit in a tree long enough with a very quiet mind, it will teach you its healing powers. Consequently, I have chosen some pieces of jewelry that I hope inspire people to realize how beautiful and powerful trees really are, pieces that make people want to share amber with the rest of the world!
