'Cup' was the brainchild of Ricardo Acevado. He invited Stephen Schweitzer, Rich Brown and Joe Sorren to meet in his studio one evening for some improvisational jamming - just to see if there was a connection. There was. They never wrote any concrete songs, but occassionally used simple song parts as a platform for bizarre improvised music. The 'group' played a handful of shows in Flagstaff and one show in Phoenix at an art club: Metropophobobia. Jane Williams was invited to join in with her haunting voice and they were lucky enough to get the show recorded. Most of the music here is from that show. The song 'Creature Feature' was recorded on New Years day, 1998 in Joe's studio. Nothing was planned.
