Soy, the Magic Cat Soy, the magic cat was inspired by a real cat named Soy. In Blanco's Magic Tails, Soy is the 2nd land creature born from Earth. One day, a flower blossomed in front of Raven (the 1st land creature on Earth). Soy was born from that flower and became Raven's best friend (Tail One). Soy flew on Raven's back and saw all of Earth and the universe beyond. When they returned to Earth, Raven left on a mysterious journey (Tail Two)... Soy was alone on Earth except for the plants and her friend Shadow, who only came to her in dreams (Tail Three). Eventually, Soy got very lonely and met Coyote in the dreamworld. Coyote told Soy to draw a doorway at the top of a mountain, and to cast a wish to it when she woke. Soy woke and saw her doorway at the base of the tree she slept in. She sat before it and made a wish. The doorway burst open and out poured a steady flow of animals (Tail Four). All of the animals (except Coyote) put Soy on a pedestal. She became a living Goddess in their eyes because she was the one who opened the doorway and freed them from the strange place they existed in before Soy came along. Soy didn't understand why they treated her that way, but was more than happy to allow them to do so. Each night at sunset, Soy sat in Big Tree's branches and told her Tail to them all. This went on for hundreds of years until one night when Coyote interrupted... but that's another Tail (Tail Five, actually). Part of what made Soy so powerful was her innocence and ability to stay in the moment. She would do these great magical things (like creating the doorway that freed the animals from their 'sleeping state' and brought them to Earth), and never thought "how did I do that?" afterward. She couldn't explain how she'd done it to anyone either, she just could. Much time went by before the humans arrived on Earth (Tail 13). When they did, the creatures began to age. Everyone except Soy, which added to everyone else's feelings of awe and reverence toward her. Much happens to Soy and everyone else in future Tails, but I don't want to spoil the surprises... If Soy comes to you in a dream or meditation, it could mean that you are a very old soul who probably doesn't quite realize that yet - you may not understand what an 'old soul' is. You should pay attention to your abilities and talents - focus on them and learn how to use them. You are good at what you enjoy doing by using your instincts. If you feel like you've run into an inner block or obstacle, try not to think so much. Like a cat, meditate (they all do it if you watch them...). Relax, and use only your instincts to improve your talents. Like Soy, you may be able to manifest things in this world without thinking about the process at all - this is part of what makes your talents so great! You may be more in touch with your abilities than you realize. Don't take them for granted though! We are all given gifts and talents - it's up to each of us individually to explore and use them as best we can. The only way to keep them is to use them. Practice makes perfect. Do what you're good at as much as possible! If a cat other than Soy comes to you in a dream or meditation it could mean that your spirit is being protected by the spirit of a cat (especially if you have a cat!). It can also mean that if you're faced with a confrontation of some sort, you'll have the ability to see whether you should stick around for the fight or to retreat. You could be entering a period of high self-esteem (if you're not in one already). You could also have the ability to see spirits while awake. Cats do this a lot - have you ever been hangin' with a cat and seen him or her jerk their head up quickly and stare at a spot in the corner of the room? You get up and look, and nothing's there... but sometimes there is. Conway, D.J. Animal Magick.
