Root, the Turtle



In Blanco's Magic Tails, Root was one of the very first animals to
arrive on Earth through Soy's doorway. He was one of the smartest,
wisest, and trustworthy of all the animals. When a problem arose, Root
was always able to come up with a great idea to solve it. He also enjoyed
swimming in the lagoon and ocean. Dolfnir took Root on many journeys
through the ocean where he met millions of different creatures. He helped
establish a relationship between the dwellers of the deep, and the
animals who lived on land.

Turtles are sacred to many different cultures from around the world.
The Hindus and ancient Chinese believed that the world was
held on the back of a giant turtle. Some ancient Japanese believed a
turtle supported the 'Cosmic Mountains'. Other Japanese people
used the turtle as a symbol of the sea god - turtles were his messengers.
Turtles were very important to many Native American tribes. They
symbolized the elements of Earth and Water and also Goddess energy.

If a turtle comes to you in a dream, meditation, or every day life,
it could mean that you need to slow down. Stop trying to rush
your ideas into action - allow them to grow and evolve. Be
patient. Sometimes when you rush a project, it ends up sloppy
and can make you look a little incompetent. That's why it's
important to slow down and think things through. This may be
a good time for new ideas - brainstorming may be in order!
A visit from a turtle can also mean you need to protect yourself
from other people's negative thoughts about you. Like a turtle,
go into your shell for now. Don't come out until you feel confident
about yourself and your ideas.
