Mohandas K Gandhi In Blanco's Earth Tails # 1, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi joined other great and influential humans throughout time (like Buddha, Morgaine, Jesus, Saraswati...) in a boy named Lars Ravenkeep's dream one night. They all gathered around Big Tree to show Lars and the rest of humanity that there should be no divisions between people because of their skin color or religion. Gandhi was born to a Hindu family in India on October 2, 1869. He was the first member of his family to graduate from high school. After 3 months of college, he dropped out and soon moved to England. He returned to India in 1891 with a Barrister's title and tried to start a small law practice. This failed, and in 1893 Gandhi moved to South Africa to work as a lawyer's assistant. He began working right away on a personal campaign to eliminate racism. Gandhi spent 11 years in court fighting for Indian rights - and won most of his cases - but the government constantly passed bills to cancel out his victories. In 1906, Gandhi came up with the idea of Satyagraha, which means 'insistence on truth using non-violent non-cooperation'. He developed a large following, and by 1915 had helped reduce dsicrimination in South Africa. In 1915, Gandhi returned to India and spent a year travelling through- out the country. He used Satyagraha to help poor farmers and peasants. In 1919 British soldiers massacred 319 men & women and wounded 1200 others in Punjab, India. Gandhi decided that the nation of India needed to break away from the British empire. His idea of Satyagraha evolved and he started 2 weekly newspapers that helped educate nearly 300 million Indians. He taught them to run the country themselves so they would have no need for the British to be there. This form of passive resistance finally won in 1947, when India gained independence from Britain. Gandhi was assassinated on January 30, 1948. A Hindu man felt Gandhi had been helping the Muslim people too much, and was hurting Hindu people. If Gandhi comes to you in a dream or meditation, it could mean you have the potential to be a great leader - perhaps people already look up to. Gandhi got his power from peaceful action, and you should do the same. If you have any desire to be a political activist, this could be a call for you to practice Satyagraha - Gandhi's concept of passive resistance to solve legal and political problems (literally: 'insistence on truth using non-violent non-cooperation').
