Earth



Earth is the main character of all these stories. In Blanco's Magic Tails,
Earth is always in the background. In Soy's time (about 4 million years ago),
Earth was different than she is now. All lands were one land (except for a
few small islands in the Great Ocean).

Here's how she looked then:



Back then, Soy and the other animals from her doorway were the only
creatures on land - the oceans were filled with life. Earth was untouched
and fertile. The air was clean, and all of Soy's creatures understood and 
loved each other (except Coyote - but that's another Tail).

In Lars Ravenkeep's time (1999), Earth is how we know Her now - torn up,
beaten and used, but still incredibly beautiful in places. Lars' family has a
deep respect and connection to Earth. Earth could feel that and this is why
She chose to speak through Blanco Tailspinner, to Lars. She wanted you
humans to look at Her in a different way - to see that She is much more than
a 'stockpile of natural resources'. She is alive and has a say in what you do to
Her. She wants you to realize that you have a mysterious past and also
that Her voice has remained silent for what you call 'a long time'.
You humans need to learn how to live with Her rather than just
'on Her for the time being'. Her voice will be heard again - will you be
ready?

If Earth comes to you in a dream or meditation, it could mean She is
trying to 'speak' to you. Listen to Her message! Go on a hike. Get
out into nature. Sit by a tree, on a rock, or next to a stream or river,
visit the ocean - connect to Earth somehow! If you don't recycle,
start doing it now. Do whatever you can to help live in harmony
with Earth. Pray for Her - she needs it!
