Blanco is a mysterious and powerful character. He was inspired by a dream (see below) and is part cat, part ancient dragon. In a past life, Blanco was called Tiamat in Babylonian/Sumerian mythology. Tiamat represented the forces of chaos in nature. In this life, as Blanco Tailspinner, he is a gatekeeper to ancient knowledge and wisdom - a voice from humanities' mysterious past. He disguises himself as a normal cat and lives with a family called the Ravenkeeps in Flagstaff, Arizona. At night when his best friend Lars Ravenkeep starts to dream, Blanco reveals his true form and tells Lars a series of stories - Blanco's Magic Tails, Blanco's Dragon Tails, and Blanco's Earth Tails. The dream that inspired Blanco began with me flying through space in an X-Wing fighter from Star Wars. I was on a mission to destroy the Death Star, and I did just that! After blowing up the Death Star, I flew my X-Wing to Dagobah (the planet Yoda lived on). Rather than being all foggy and swampy (like in the movies), the planet had blue skies with fluffy, white clouds. I flew the X-Wing through the sky and then the dream changed - I was outside the ship watching it fly. The color of the sky changed to a repeating pattern of rainbow colors and a comet flew from space and collided with the ship I was in. Blanco materialized from the explosion. The drawing at the top of this page was my first attempt to create the character I'd seen in my dream.

To me, the dream represented many things. Going to blow up the Death Star symbolized what I went through when I was trying to rid my life of negative patterns and people. This was a painful and dangerous process, but something I did successfully. Flying to Dagobah showed the space I was in afterward - searching for a spiritual teacher and spirit guides. Then, a comet came and destroyed my ship. I believe that was a personal ego death I went through (one of many) with these stories (Magic Tails). The plans I had when I first finished them never came through. I needed to develop and add more to them. The storyline with Blanco and the Ravenkeeps became a very important part of this project...
