Big Tree Big Tree was inspired by the great tree of Norse mythology called Yggdrasil (pronounced ig-druh-zil). I knew Soy needed a friend after Raven left, and I also love trees - so why not a tree, and why not the greatest of all trees? Big Tree didn't talk, but could tell Soy and the other animals how it felt by letting its emotions pour out. Big Tree and the meadow it lived in became the center and meeting place for all the animals who came through Soy's doorway. We can all hear what trees have to say if we try. Just sit up against one sometime and close your eyes... send your feelings into the roots, branches and leaves, then wait and you will feel what the tree has to say. In Norse myth, Yggdrasil is the greatest of all trees. It's branches and roots reach into every world of existence. The branches reach into the four worlds above man (Asgard, Ljossalfheim, Muspelheim and Vanaheim), the trunk rests on Earth in the realm of mankind called Midgard, while the roots reach into the four lands of the underworld (Jotunheim, Nifelheim, Svartalfheim, and Hel). In dreams and meditation trees can mean many things. They may actually speak to you in words. Sometimes they have another spirit who lives nearby (or in the tree) that has lessons to teach you. It can also mean that you are opening yourself to experience other planes of existence. You may start to see more to reality than other people. Try to be like a tree more often - be still and listen to the wind... Different trees can mean different things...
